This phase is where that model becomes the governing standard for everything that happens on site. The digital twin does not stay in the studio when construction begins. It comes with us: live, continuously updated, and used as the reference point against which every installation is measured, every trade is coordinated, and every variance is caught before it compounds.
This is the operational core of how Westside Build builds. The technology does not replace the craftsmanship. It ensures the craftsmanship is applied exactly where the design requires it, without exception.
The Digital Twin as the Standard of Truth on Site
Most residential construction is done from paper plans distributed to separate trades, each of which interprets them independently. When interpretations diverge, and they do, the result is misalignments, field improvisation, dimensional conflicts, and the kind of rework that costs time and erodes the approved design.
On a Westside Build project, every trade, structural, framing, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, waterproofing, and finishes, works from the same coordinated digital model. There is no separate set of drawings for each discipline. There is one model, which serves as the authoritative reference for every decision made on site.
Before any installation begins, our team performs a digital overlay check, comparing field conditions against the model to confirm framing is at the correct height and spacing, windows and doors are aligned, plumbing intersects correctly between floors, HVAC and ducts have proper clearance, and structural elements match engineering specifications. Nothing proceeds until the check is complete. Nothing is left to interpretation.
Augmented Reality Validation
Westside Build uses augmented reality on-site to overlay the digital model directly onto the physical build environment. This allows our field teams to confirm system placement in three dimensions against the model, catch inconsistencies between what is being built and what was designed, and verify trade work against model specifications before it is covered by subsequent phases.
The value of AR in construction is not novelty; it is speed and accuracy. Issues that would take hours to identify through traditional measurement and comparison are identified in minutes. The model and the site are the same thing, and any deviation between them is visible immediately.
Daily Oversight, Quality Control & Sequencing
Precision on a Westside Build site is not achieved at inspection milestones and then assumed between them. It is maintained daily through a structured oversight process that keeps construction aligned with the digital plan from the first day of work to the last.
Our field teams monitor progress against schedule every day, not to track compliance for its own sake, but to catch divergence early when correction is still cheap. Subcontractor coordination, installation quality, safety requirements, and inspection readiness are all reviewed as part of the site’s daily rhythm. Problems surface at their smallest, not their most expensive.
Quality control is also embedded into every major construction milestone. Each of the following phases is validated against the digital model before proceeding to the next:
- Foundation preparation and formwork
- Structural framing completion
- Roof structure and waterproofing
- Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing rough-in
- Insulation and air sealing
- Interior finishes and millwork
Each checkpoint is measured against the model, not field estimates or memory of what was planned. This is the difference between quality control as a process and quality control as a standard.
Construction sequencing is also governed by the digital twin. The model dictates the order of operations, which trades work when, in what sequence, and with what dependencies. This prevents the bottlenecks, out-of-order installations, and scheduling conflicts that add cost and time to less coordinated builds.
Materials, Logistics & Supply Chain Control During Construction
The supply chain work that began in preconstruction, long-lead identification, early procurement, and secured warehousing continues to operate in direct coordination with the construction sequence throughout this phase. Materials arrive when the model says they are needed, not when the open market allows.
Through DG Lumber, our partners in direct-from-mill lumber operation, and our regional fabrication facilities and staging yards, we maintain secure material storage for active projects and manage deliveries in accordance with the digital sequencing plan. Lumber and structural materials are sourced and staged ahead of their installation window. Fabricated components are manufactured to model specifications and delivered on schedule.
What You Experience During This Phase
For most homeowners, this is the phase where the build becomes real, where the decisions made in design and preconstruction start to take physical form. It is also the phase that, on a traditionally managed project, tends to produce the most stress: surprises, delays, decisions being revisited, the creeping feeling that no one is fully in control.
On a Westside Build project, that experience is different. Because the plan is complete and the model governs the site, what you see when you visit is construction proceeding as agreed, not a series of problems being managed. You receive consistent updates at defined milestones, transparent reporting on schedule and quality, and direct access to the team when you have questions. You are never chasing information.
